How long should I holiday in Bodrum?

How many days should you stay in Bodrum?

Typically, when booking a package holiday, you normally get the options of 7, 10 or 14 days to stay in your chosen holiday destination. But now-days, many people are booking their accommodation and flights separately to make their holiday tailor made to them.

Bodrum offers a huge amount of hotels from backpacker budget hotels, to 5 star ultimate luxury. It will depend of what type of accommodation you choose to stay in as to how many days you will need in Bodrum.

If you have chosen to stay in a budget hotel, or self catering hotel, you might be much more likely to want to explore the area. There is no end to things you can do in Bodrum. Below we will give an example of what you can do in a 1 week, 10 day and 2 week holiday in Bodrum. If you have chosen to stay in an all inclusive hotel, you may be tempted to venture out after reading this post.

1 week holiday in Bodrum

Day 1 – We recommend that on day 1 of your holiday in Bodrum you should do a Turkish Bath. This is because the Turkish Bath treatment exfoliates your skin by removing the dead outside layer. After you have been in the sun for a week you’re sure to have a bit of a sun tan that you want to show off at home. By having a Turkish Bath, you are much less likely to peel, therefore you will preserve your suntan and have healthier looking skin. You’ll find more information on the Bodrum Turkish Bath here.

In the evening of your first day, if you want to go out for dinner, it’s best to familiarise yourself with the local area you are staying in. There are many tourist resorts around the Bodrum peninsula and each one has it’s own charm. We have given a little information of each area in our Bodrum Resorts blog.

Day 2 – After relaxing by the pool or on the beach after your Turkish bath on the first day, you might be ready to start exploring. One of our popular tour with families, couples or groups of friends is Bodrum Water Park. It’s located about 15 minutes from Bodrum centre, and we offer a free shuttle transfer from a designated pick up spot in all areas of the peninsula. It’s a low budget day trip and is a pleasant day out for anyone.

Day 3 – On day 3 of your Bodrum holiday you could spend some time in the city. Bodrum Castle is very important in the history of western Turkey and how Bodrum stands today. The castle isn’t open on a Monday, but every other day it’s open to the public. If history isn’t your thing, you can shop in the quaint cobble stoned shopping area of the city. The streets are filled with Bougainvillea which makes for a perfect photo opportunity.

Day 4 – The Bodrum Jeep Safari is a popular choice for day 4 of your holiday. The tour will fill your day with fun, culture and natural beauty as you ride inland through the countryside. It’s a different pace from the bustling beach resorts.

Day 5 – A day on Gumbet beach will be what you need to relax on day 5 of your holiday in Bodrum. It’s about 5 minutes by taxi from the centre of Bodrum. It is free to use the sun beds and parasols on Gumbet Beach, and there are no shortage of restaurants and bars for you to refresh yourself during the day. To break the day up you can partake in water sports if you are brave enough.

Day 6 – By far, the most popular tour in Bodrum is the Bodrum Boat Trip. From the advertising pictures, it looks like an impossible dream to be on a beautiful gulet boat cruising along the turquoise waters. But we have public boat trips everyday during the summer months. This trip is suitable for families, couples, or friends.

In Pamukkale you can paddle in the thermal mountain pools, and swim in Cleopatra’s thermal pool.

Day 12 – If you’re bored of sitting on the beach, you can walk. From the boat harbour on Bitez beach, there is a coastal walk which takes you all the way to Aquarium bay and back again. It’s around 6 kilometres in total. You’ll need to carry plenty of water with you as it’s a wilderness walk, but the best thing is, its free!
